  8. GP Update!

    Update #23: Gentlemen’s Paintings News!

Just because I’ve been quiet doesn’t mean GP is losing momentum! Quite the contrary! My GP team and I have been photographing women and will continue to do so through December.

    *News*

We have our first GP exhibition coming up this October. Stay tuned for details. It will be at the Architecture Gallery on 30th Street in San Diego.

Once I have all the images, I am going to shop the GP book around to art publishers. If any one has a contact to a good art publisher, please let me know. My plan is to have artists, writers, filmmakers and photographers choose one photo to write a brief essay about.

This project has inspired me to create a series of books on female “sub” culture. Check out the photographer August Sander to see what I am talking about (“People of the 20th Century”)

    *Updates*

I am going have my prints made by my printer in Los Angeles- he makes exquisite archival prints for the likes of famous photographers such as Sam Taylor Wood!

The images are going to be framed in white wood and UV glass. I saw a color photo show and was so impressed by the way the white set off the color photographs, thus I have changed course on my original plan of aluminum framing.

I have decided to cut the amount of images in half, which brings us to 20 portraits. I feel that the project as a whole will be much more powerful. I will still need all the funds to make prints and hire a professional framer.

I am applying for a grant for completion funds.

Once I have selected the strongest 20 images for this body of work, I will then create the soft cover book I have promised several backers. You can expect your copy of the book by February 2012.

Please let me know if you have any questions or comments!

I hope you are enjoying your goodies so far!

    Rebecca
